"We are devastated that she is no longer with us, but hope that through this fund, her light will continue to shine."

On July 13th 2022, Isobel had her right arm amputated for a high-grade osteosarcoma.
She didn’t think she had cancer. She’d noticed a lump in her upper arm a few months earlier that she thought was just a pulled muscle after gardening.
One day, just after her birthday, she turned a door handle and heard and felt an almighty crack in her arm. An X-ray showed a spiral fracture which was how her cancer was diagnosed.
When she first heard the news she was in shock and couldn’t be bothered to cook. Tea that night was a chip butty and a magnum ice-cream. One of her Twitter followers thought that was an excellent meal choice and tweeted that everyone should do the same and #BeMoreIsobel.
Isobel had cancer deposits in her lungs and started chemotherapy to try and stop them growing. She stayed positive throughout and was proud to be known as the ‘One-Arm Bandit’. She was passionate about raising awareness of bone cancer. She wanted everyone to know what the symptoms are, and to help raise money through this special fund to help find a cure. We set it up whilst she was alive so she could start making a difference to other people’s lives.
Halfway through chemotherapy in December 2022, less than six months after her diagnosis, Isobel developed pneumonia complicated by blood clots in her lungs. She died peacefully in hospital on the 4th December whilst her husband and daughter held her hand.
