Raising vital funds for life saving research into osteosarcoma
Dila's Story
Dila was a very happy girl, full of character, always smiling - she could light up any room! She made everyone around her happy, always forgiving and always did everything with a big heart. Dila loved many things, but in particular she loved to swim, dance and play the foreign guitar.
In May 2015 Dila had a pain in her leg, just above her ankle. Dila and her mum went to their GP who diagnosed the pain as muscle problems - giving Dila a bandage to help ease the pain. Weeks passed and the pain was getting progressively worse and swelling started to really appear, by this point Dila had been to her GP a few times and was on pain medication but nothing was helping.
By the beginning of August Dila was sent to hospital for an X-Ray, the results were inconclusive so a second X-Ray was needed. Again the results weren't clear so they were sent to another hospital to check.
One week later, we received the devastating news - Dila had a tumour and it was bone cancer. A biopsy showed it was osteosarcoma.
Dila's treatment began almost straight away, she underwent 10 months of gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy but sadly Dila lost her fight on 17th October 2016.
