When we formed ESRT in 2011, we did so in order to provide a dedicated charity focused solely on raising funds to improve the treatment of Ewing’s sarcoma and patient outcomes, and awareness of this devastating form of cancer. Our goal was to give Ewing’s sarcoma patients and their families hope – and a belief that treatments and outcomes could be better.
Our first grant call was a joint venture with the Bone Cancer Research Trust (‘BCRT’), an organisation that have gone on to become a trusted long term partner of ESRT.
Since that time we have jointly invested in a number of projects, primarily research, culminating in a joint collaboration with BCRT and The Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, which was launched in May 2024.
When the difficult decision to wind up ESRT was made by our trustees, we agreed that identifying an organisation that would continue to strive to improve treatments and outcomes for Ewing’s sarcoma patients was the first step in the winding up process.
There are a number of worthy and capable charities in the UK that meet that criteria, but after much consideration, and rewarding and collaborative engagement with some such charities, the trustees agreed that passing our legacy funds to a partner we have worked with for many years and who shared our ambitions felt like the best way forward. Therefore, we have granted our legacy funds to BCRT.
While this process was ongoing, and given our desire as trustees to continue to help raise funds towards the ultimate objective of finding a cure for Ewing’s sarcoma, we opened this Special Fund.
If you wish to make a donation to help fund research, you can do so through this page in the knowledge that all money donated will be used solely towards this objective. Additionally, if you would like to raise money through a fundraising event instead, you can do that too.
The fund will also accept cheques, which should be made payable to Bone Cancer Research Trust and posted to BCRT at 10 Feast Field, Horsforth, Leeds, LS18 4TJ. Please enclose a note indicating that the donation is for the Ewing's Sarcoma Research Trust Legacy Page.
Thank you for visiting this page and for any support that you are able to give.
As trustees of ESRT, we have been privileged to have played even a small role in the important efforts to improve outcomes for the Ewing’s sarcoma community, and we remain deeply indebted to our many donors, supporters and fundraisers, including all who contribute via this page.
Thank you, ESRT Trustees
