Mary’s Story

Our daughter, Mary was 11 years old when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (the most common form of primary bone cancer in children and young adults).

She enjoyed football, golf, swimming, drama, Cubs, Guides, a great Liverpool supporter, she was loved by everyone, she was a fun, loving little girl who always put others first, she would go without so her friends could have. She had a great circle of friends.

Throughout her illness, she never moaned once, always staying brave, we said on many occasions, she was 'amazing'.

Mary passed away on New Years Day 2012, she is sadly missed and we think about her everyday. Mary always wanted to be remembered, and this she will be.

What we do for Mary

To date we have undertaken various charity events which we have organised together with our great circle friends, without their help we wouldn’t have been able to raise so much for Mary.

Our events to date include; an Aquathon which Mary's friends organised, a walk along our prom at Weston super Mare, Bootcamps, Spin sessions, bedtime aerobics, children organising cake sales at school, dress down days at work, mouse racing, an annual Golf Day which includes golf, casino and a live band in the evening, quiz nights and skittle evenings. I have also ran the London Marathon 6 times since 2013.

Our aim is to continue to raise awareness and to raise as much as possible to help find a cure for this terrible illness and we need your help to be able to achieve this. There has been very little improvement in primary bone cancer survival rates for 40 years which is why research is so desperately needed to find new treatments.

Supporting Mary's Fund

It would be lovely if you could support Mary's Fund, either by donating online, taking part in an event or even donating a raffle/auction prize for our events - anything would be greatly appreciated.
